How to be saved

You may only come to Him through Christ (Hebrews 5:9; John 14:6)

You must have faith that comes through the study of His Word (John 8:24; Romans 10:17)

You must repent of your sins (Act 2:38; 17:30)

You must confess Him before others (Acts 8:36-37)

You must be baptized for the remission of sins (Acts 2:38; 22:16)

You must live faithfully to His Word (1 John 1:5-9)

Why Did You Do That?

Often we make choices that puzzle those about us. What we wear, where we go, the people we choose as our companions and friends.  Even the words we use, all seem foreign to so many in the world around us. But why is this? While so many in the world choose things based on what […]

Being a “World Changer”

One of the greatest disappointments that Christian’s face is the state of the world in which we live. People indulge about every “lust of the flesh… lust of the eyes… and pride of life…” (1 John 2:16) action they can in pursuit of pleasing themselves. The result of course is the degraded society in which […]

Just As I Am

One of the beautiful hymns we sing has the title above  It expresses the truth that we come to Jesus with a heart aching from sin and looking to Jesus and His sacrificial love to save us, realizing our inability to deal with sin by ourselves.  But isn’t it tragic that so many seem to […]

“Have you received your calling from God?”

I had not been a Christian but for a few months when the Bible class teacher looked at me and asked, “Jack, how did you receive your calling from God?” Likely some may have been shocked that he would ask such a question, but I knew the question was asked to illustrate a point – […]

It’s Not Whether You Win or Lose..

If you were to complete the above phrase, what would you say? Most would end with, “…but how you play the game.” It is a common phrase which has been used through the years to teach the value of such characteristics as fair play, concern for others and the like as opposed to the “do whatever it […]

What do you know….?

How many times have you heard this phrase used in a conversation? We toss the idea of knowing about in our everyday life with a certainty that makes life orderly and “sane”! Think of all the things we know, such things as what money is worth, we know what an hour is, we know that […]

Do You Know Who I Am?!

Far too often in today’s religious world we find those who try to intimidate others into following what they teach. It may be because of the title they wear, the position they hold, the degrees they have attained or some other thing that is supposed to set them above all others in regard to authority […]

What Have I Been Putting In My Heart?

In Matthew 4:1-11 we read that after fasting for 40 days and 40 nights that the tempter (devil) came and tempted Jesus. It is notable that He was tempted in the same ways as each of us: the lust of the flesh-“command that these stones be made bread” (vs 3), the lust of the eyes […]

God never gives a challenge too great!

At times some people seem to be overwhelmed by the demands of living a Christian life. They know that, as Jesus said, the way to heaven upon which we are to trod is “strait” and “narrow”, so much so that few will even find it (Matthew 7:13-14). They read that Paul warns that it is […]

Talents

Each of us has talents. Some excel in sports, writing, speaking, or some other pursuit. Some seem to have natural talents and others acquire their abilities over time. No matter how you gain the talent or ability, these talents can help in different areas of your life. But how do you use those talents in […]
